Cambridge Man Charged with Felonious Assault Following Investigation Into Injuries to Infant

GUERNSEY COUNTY, OHIO — Guernsey County Sheriff Jeffrey Paden announced that a Cambridge man has been arrested and charged following a joint investigation into serious injuries sustained by a 7-month-old child.

The investigation began after detectives with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding an infant who had reportedly suffered potentially life-threatening injuries. During the course of their investigation, Washington County detectives developed information indicating that the injuries were believed to have occurred at a residence on Cadiz Road in Guernsey County.

Detectives from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office then continued the investigation jointly. Through interviews and other investigative efforts, detectives obtained evidence indicating that the child’s injuries had been sustained in Guernsey County and developed information identifying a suspect.

The suspect was identified as Phillip Loschiavo, age 22, of Cambridge.

Loschiavo was brought to the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office for questioning by investigators.

Following the interview, Loschiavo was arrested and transported to the Guernsey County Jail. He has been charged with one count of Felonious Assault, a felony of the second degree.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be presented to the Guernsey County Grand Jury as the investigation progresses.

Sheriff Paden expressed his appreciation to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau for its continued cooperation and assistance throughout the investigation.

“This investigation is an excellent example of the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies,” Sheriff Paden said. “We greatly appreciate the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau for continuing to work alongside our investigators. Most importantly, our focus remains on seeking justice for this young victim.”
